Bhubaneswar: April 30: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced a good number of schemes for the construction and other unorganised workers in the state. As planned and designed, the schemes will be beneficial for the construction workers registered under Odisha Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board.

Chief Minister announced Pension scheme for the construction workers above sixty years’ age, which will be at par with Madhu Babu Pension Yojana (MBPY). Likewise, children of construction workers studying in classes from VI to X will get annual scholarship, which will vary from Rs.2000 to Rs.4000 per annum i.e. Rs.2000 for children studying in class VIII, Rs,3000 for class IX and Rs.4000 for class X. Girl Students studying in Class VI and Class VII will get Rs.2000 per year as Scholarship. Also, meritorious students from construction workers family studying in Class X will be awarded with one time cash award of Rs.10000 if they pass with more than 90% marks.  

Government enhanced the cash incentive given to pregnant and nursing mothers of construction worker families from Rs. 8000 to Rs. 10000 over and above the assistance given under Mamata Yojana. The government also announced to increase the assistance under Nirman Shramik Pucca Ghar Yojana which will be enhanced by Rs 20000 over and above MGNREGS and Swachha Bharat Abhiyan Incentive thereby enhancing the cost of construction of each house to Rs. 1.50 lakhs.

Providing health facility to them, the government also announced a medical assistance up to Rs 3 lakhs for the treatment of nervous disorders, cardiovascular diseases, kidney problems, cancer and orthopaedic disorders provided they are registered for at least one year with the Board.
