Bhubaneswar, Aug 23: Yesterday, both the opposition parties, Congress and BJP opposed the decision taken by the ruling government to commence the Assembly’s monsoon session from September 7, a day after the western Odisha’s big festival, Nuakhai.
They called this decision as unfair as the western Odisha people would be in a festive mood during that time. BJP has made a request to the Speaker to extend the date by a day at least, to which BJD called this as an administrative issue. It’s stated that there is a possibility of date extension as the GST bill is likely to be passed in this session.
