Keonjhar, Aug 29: Tekloi MLA and BJD leader, Vedavyas Nayak, was attacked by some party workers during a meeting on Sunday, at Gundhichaghati under Ghatagan block.
According to reports, as the panchayat polls are just around the corner in February next year, the BJD organized the meeting on Sunday morning to chalk out the strategy as a part of its party organisational meeting before the panchayat poll
During the meeting, as many as 20-25 party workers had suddenly climbed up the podium, who attacked and abused Nayak. Following the assault, Nayak sustained head injuries and was rushed to Harichandanpur Community Health Centre (CHC) from where he was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
The difference of opinion between party workers led to a clash in which the MLA was injured.
Badri Narayan Patra, local minister said that whatever may be the reason, action should be taken amongst those who attacked the MLA.
Asish Chakraborty, BJD district president and other senior party leaders had attended the meeting.
