Bhawanipatna, Sept 1: Sandini Majhi, daughter of Dana Majhi informed that her late mother had asked her husband not to throw her corpse anywhere else but to cremate it in Melhghar, Dana’s native village. Narrating the merciless experience which both her father and she had to face at the Kalahandi District headquarters hospital, Sandini said that when the hospital authorities got to know the fact that Dana’s wife was no more, they asked both of them to take the body away on their own as there was no ambulance service available at that time.
Sandini’s this statement proves that the version of the Kalahandi district administration and hospital authorities saying that Dana Majhi took away his wife’s body without informing anyone late on August 24 night was a complete lie.
Dana Majhi’s village is situated at the foot of Tijamali hills. The village can be reached only on foot through hilly terrain with a stream flowing through making the task even more difficult. It is as if civilisation too has found the road too cumbersome to reach the village. Gobind Padhani, a social activist put light on the road transport of the village.
