Dana Majhi outcry not because of an individual but because of the State Govt and System: Narsingha Mishra

Bhubaneswar, Sept 6: On Sunday, Congress veteran and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Odisha Assembly Narasingha Mishra blamed the government and the system for the shattered state of health infrastructure in the state. Mishra on his last day of the two-day visit to the district visited the District Headquarters Hospital here to enquire about what circumstances led to the Dana Majhi incident.The senior leader held discussions with the hospital staff apart from meeting Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO). About the hospital he commented that the hospital has several deficiencies including staff shortage. The posts of doctors are lying vacant and are being managed by temporary appointees. Dana Majhi’s village Melghara and other remote areas need basic facilities like road connectivity, drinking water facility, electricity and education, he demanded. The veteran politician was scheduled to visit Majhi’s village on Sunday. However, he had to cancel his trip in view of the 12th day rituals of the latter’s wife. Former MP Bhakta Charan Das and other party leaders accompanied Mishra.
