Bhubaneswar, Dec 9: Today Housing and Urban Development minister, Pushpendra Singh Deo informed in the Assembly session that around 195 illegal apartments will be destroyed here.

This was said as a written reply to the question posed by MLA Chandrasekhar Majhi. Deo stated that there are 1415 apartments and high rises have been approved by the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) in the Bhubaneswar municipality area. But the BDA has still not calculated the occupancy strength of these approved apartments. Out of these apartments, the BDA has identified 583 apartments to have been constructed illegally.

Hence, required cases have been lodged against these apartments under section 91(1) of the Orissa Development Authorities Act, 1982 and required orders have been issued to demolish the illegal 195 apartments.
