Odisha Chief Secretary GC Pati has directed the departments of Fishery, Forest and Marine police  to coordinate and ensure strict enforcement of the conservation rules to ensure safety of olive ridley sea turtles.

Coast Guard has been directed to have real time intelligence sharing with the departments about any illegal fishing and advised the Marine police to chase away and apprehend the trespassers to the banned region while Dhamara and Paradeep Port Trust have been asked to provide necessary assistance in the matter and follow the dark sky lighting technology, which prevents disorientation of olive turtles.

The Sea turtle protection has been launched in State from November 1.

It may be recalled here that a ban on fishing has been imposed from November 1 and fishing communities have been informed about it. They have also been requested to cooperate in conservation of this valuable sea species like previous years.
