Bhubaneswar, Feb 2: Yesterday the Centre made an announcement to celebrate the completion of 200 years of Paika Mutiny, which is known to be the first freedom struggle of India, to commemorate the courageous uprising of soldiers led by Buxi Jagabandhu in Khurda against the British in 1817.
The Government of India will also be commemorating the centenary year of Champaran Satyagarh in Gujarat this year. This was said by the Union Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley during his Budget speech in Lok Sabha yesterday. This decision of Jaitley was also appreciated by Oil Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan and he is indebted to PM, Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley for the decision.
