Bhubaneswar/Jeypore, Mar 27: The Woman farmer named Kamala Pujari belonging to Patraputa in Koraput in Jeypore in Odisha despite of her win of the ‘Equator Initiative Award’ at the Johannesburg of South Africa in 2002, today lives with her six-member family in a kutcha house although a ladies hostel been built in the campus of Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) has been named after her. The 70-year old farmer stated that they live in the thatched house built by her husband and she does not own a house under the Indira Awas Yojana (IAY). Pujari visited Bhubaneswar on Sunday as the State government had invited her to attend a foundation stone laying ceremony for the OUAT’s new ladies hostel building named after her. Odisha CM felicitated Pujari with a flower bouquet and shawl. Kamala and her family are the economically backward category people and work as daily wage labourers in farms but Kamala has failed to get a pucca house.
BJD spokesperson Rabi Narayan Nanda, who is born and brought up Patraputa village in Koraput was still unaware about Kamala till date. Upon knowing he stated that he would request the district administration as well as Odisha government to provide some financial support to the woman farmer.
