Bhubaneswar, Apr 22: Mining revenue in Odisha has dropped largely from a targeted amount of Rs 6500 crore to Rs 4500 crore in 2016-17 FY, stated Mines minister Prafulla Mallick, while talking to the media on Friday.

While the revenue collected in 2015-16 FY was Rs 5400 crore, it is said that due to the decrease in global demand of Iron ore, the revenue drop came into fore.

With this, the state govt. will auction three mines (2 iron ore mines i.e. the Netrabanda and Kalamunda iron ore mines and one Garamura limestone block) by the end of May.

Notably, the limestone block Garamura will be re-auctioned again, as during the last auction it did not fetch any bidders, said Mallick. He added, we have already notified the aspiring bidders about the auction. I hope everything goes well, so we can finish up the process by May.
