Cops turn thief, robs over Rs 3 lakh from business man

Bargarh, Apr 29: Police turns thief. In an incident at Bargarh, four police officers have been alleged of looting over Rs 3.2 lakh from a Chhattisgarh based business man.

The matter came to limelight after the business man identified as Sudhir Khatri lodged a complaint at a Bargarh based PS. As per the FIR, on 23rd of April, two police officers in civil dress intercepted Khatri at Barahagod toll gate, when he was on his way to Jajpur. Later he was taken to a police outpost and was tortured mentally and physically and the men forcibly took away the money in his possession. They had also asked Sudhir to leave town.

With this, Khatri left town and lodged a complaint at a Raipur based Police station, in Chhattisgarh. Soon he came to Bargarh and took the matter to the district SP Asish Singh and even the collector, who suggested him to lodge an FIR against the four. Following to this, the Bargarh police has registered a case. In the meanwhile, the alleged have been identified, out of which three have been detained while a sub-inspector, the said prime accused, is still on run.
