Winter Session of Odisha Assembly begins today

Bhubaneswar: November 16: Winter Session of Odisha Assembly began on a stormy note today. Congress Members demanded a discussion on an adjournment notice on farmers’ issues cancelling the Question Hour. As the Speaker did not relent, the Congress members went into the well of the House and shouted slogans against the state government demanding a discussion on issues of the farmers.

Unable to run the House, Speaker Pradip Amat adjourned the proceedings of the House till Saturday following repeated stalemate.

The day started with obituary reference as Chief Minister condoled the death of former MLAs Prasanna Kumar Pal, Banshidhar Behera; two martyred Jawans Champeswar Mahakud and Braja Mohan Behera; and Doordarshan Video Journalist Achyutananda Sahu.

Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra and BJP legislative Party Leader KV Singhdeo paid their condolences. Further Speaker urged to all legislatures to observe one-minute silence as a mark of respect for the departed souls.
