Bhubaneswar: April 19: Five persons including two girls were crushed to death as herd of elephants attacked them. The incident happened in Talcher of Angul District of Odisha late last night.
Sources said, a herd of elephants crushed four members of a family at Sandha Village when they were asleep on the exterior courtyard of their house. The deceased are a fourty-year old man, his two daughters and his 25-year old sister. The man was working in a nearby brick kiln.
In another incident, a 70-year old man of Santhapada Village was crushed to death by the elephants when he had gone for defecation last night. The body of the deceased identified as Bhramarbara Samal.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his condolence over the deaths and conveyed his deep grief to the bereaved families for the loss.
