Bhubaneswar: August 17: Both Men’s and Women’s hockey teams of India have arrived in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday Morning.
Odisha, the sponsoring State of both Men’s and Women’s hockey teams of India, welcome the the players with beats of dhol, traditional dance and cheers at the Biju Patnaik International airport.
Further, the players were driven to a Hotel in the City under tight security.
To welcome the teams, International Sand Artist Sudarshan Pattnaik has created a sand art at Puri beach.
Naveen Patnaik shall felicitate the teams this evening. Also, Chief Minister will participate in a photo session with the teams at Kalinga Stadium.
The Indian men’s hockey team won the bronze medal after a gap of 41 years at Tokyo Olympics and also Women’s team rose to semi-final & got narrowly defeated from Great Britain.
Earlier State Government felicitated players from Odisha Birendra Lakra, Amit Rohidas, Deep Grace Ekka and Namita Toppo. State government has given cash awards of Rs 2.5 crore along with DSP rank postings to Birendra Lakra and Amit Rohidas.
Also, it has paid Rs 50 lakh each to Deep Grace Ekka and Namita Toppo.
