Kolkata, Dec 11: After a gap of two years, Bangladesh government is once again organising a mela here to celebrate Vijay Diwas, commemorating its day of liberation after the war in 1971.
To be held at the Netaji Indoor stadium, the ‘Bangladesh Bijoy Utsob’ would run from December 15-19.
Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner Zokey Ahad said they could not organise the festival for the last two years due to administrative issues.
Visitors at the festival would get the opportunity to savour a number of delicacies including sweets and biryani from the neighbouring country.
Cultural troupe would enthrall the audience with songs of Lalon Geeti, Nazrul Geeti and Rabindrasangeet besides new-age music.
A delegation of ‘Mukti Jodha’ (freedom fighters) from Bangladesh would be attending the festival where a selection of Bengali films would also be screened.
