Odisha felicitates winners of Biju Patnaik Sports Award

On National Sports Day, Odisha felicitated the brave hearts with Biju Patnaik Award for Sports and Bravery for their courage & sheer dedication for development of sport in Odisha. Their contributions have brought immense unmatchable glory to the state.

Biju Patnaik Sports Award for Outstanding Performance in Sports and Games was presented to India Hockey Player from Odisha Amit Rohidas.

Amit Rohidas plays as a defender for the Indian national team. He was a part of the Indian squad that won the bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Senior Hockey Coach of Odisha Kalu Charan Choudhury received the Biju Patnaik Sports Award for Lifetime Achievement in Promotion of Sports and Games. Shri Choudhury has been serving State Hockey from the last four decades and has produced many national and international stars who have made Odisha proud at the global stage. A much well-deserved award for him!

Eminent Badminton Coach of State Shiba Prasad Das received the Biju Patnaik Sports Award for Excellence in Coaching. A Badminton Player-turned-Coach, Sri Das, has groomed most of the para shuttlers of State including World Champion Pramod Bhagat.

Biju Patnaik Bravery Award 2020 was presented to Trailokyanath Parida, ASI Police, Cuttack. He saved a woman from drowning in the Mahanadi River at Dhabaleswar.

Sports Minister of State Tusharkanti Behera felicitated the winners of Biju Patnaik Award for Sports and Bravery at Lok Seva Bhawan, Bhubaneswar.
