Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s decision to step down as the Captain of the Indian Cricket Team in T20 format of the game after the T20 World Cup 2021,surprise many. As said by him, he shall focus more actively on his batting.
Virat Kohli step down from RCB captaincy ?
Now, the question is, Whether Virat will also step down as Captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore.
This has not been cleared yet, but he may quit RCB captaincy if the team fails to win the title even this time.
Kohli’s record as RCB captain is not good. So far, he hasn’t been able to win a single title, but he took the team to final once.
Last season, RCB qualified for the play-offs for the first time since 2016, but they suffered five defeats at the end.
Kohli scored highest 973 runs in 2016 IPL. Next in 2018, he scored 530. In the ongoing edition, he averages 33 with one half-century after seven games.
But, he is a good cricketer. His fans want him to continue the leadership role.
On the other side, Virat Kohli’s decision to step down from T20I captaincy after the 2021 T20 World Cup, has taken the cricketing world by surprise.
As discussed, if India won the T20 World Cup, he will leave the captaincy on a high. If India miss out on the title, people shall think otherwise, may be he stepped down, before he was asked to step down.
So many thinks, this is not the right time to take such a decision.
Whatever may be the discussions and comments, he is a great player and captain, who has given his best to the Team in formats of game as captain as well as player.
Now, the question is, who is next ?
It is obvious, Rohit will be the next Captain. India’s vice-captain Rohit Sharma is all set to take over as the role of skipper after Virat Kohli. Also, most suggest to make K.L.Rahul vice captain.
Sunil Gavaskar on Thursday suggested that, India should groom K.L. Rahul as a future captain.
