Pune: Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Anand Sharma on Saturday said a “misplaced euphoria” was being created by the Narendra Modi government regarding India’s prospects of getting a permanent seat in the expanded United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

He attacked the NDA government’s foreign policy and said a misplaced euphoria is being created on India’s prospects of getting a permanent member seat in the UNSC when the country has actually lost support of an ally such as Russia which had earlier backed India’s bid.

Sharma alleged that Prime Minster Modi is frivolous in his approach towards the country’s foreign policy and was misleading the country.
Sharma also accused Modi of mixing official visits with unofficial NRI events.
