Odisha government has decided to postpone the reopening of primary schools.

Government had earlier scheduled to go for physical mode of teaching in primary schools for classes 1 to 5 from January 3, 2022.

Government was arranging to open around 23,000 schools from Jan 3 and 3093 schools from Jan 10.

I & PR department said, the State government has decided to postpone the reopening of the primary schools owing to the spike in Covid-19 cases in the past two days.

Covid-19 Cases in Odisha have been growing since last 2/3 days in Odisha. Today, State has reported 424 fresh cases.

As stated by I & PR Department, nodal officers have visited various schools and discussed with the people involved with the schools and also parents & guardians. With inputs of parents, guardians and also owing to rise in Covid-19 cases, the State government has decided to postpone the reopening of primary schools for the time being.

However, the physical mode of teaching for class 6 to 10 students will continue as per the previous schedule.

Similarly, the summative assessment examination for class 10 students will be conducted as per schedule by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) from January 5, 2022.
