Suryakumar Yadav Retains Top Spot In The ICC Men's T20I Batting Rankings

November 23

Suryakumar Yadav, the No. 1 ranked hitter in the world and one of India’s best batsmen had an even better performance in the most recent MRF Tyres ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings.

Yadav, who appeared unsatisfied with his 239 runs at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, concluded with a total of 124 runs while being removed just once during India’s recent T20I series in New Zealand.

Yadav scored an outstanding undefeated 111 runs in the second game of the series in Mount Maunganui, and following his performance at Bay Oval, the 32-year-old reached a rating of 895 points, a career-high.

An innings of just 13 in the third and final game of the series in Napier dropped Yadav’s rating to 890 points, but the dynamic right-hander still holds a career-best 54-point break over his nearest challenger at the top of the T20I batter rankings.

Pakistan opener Mohammad Rizwan (836 rating points) maintains his place at No.2 on the latest T20I rankings for batters. At the same time, New Zealand’s Devon Conway (788) jumps in front of Babar Azam (778) and into third place following his team-high 84 runs during the series against India.

Several other players moved up on the most recent T20I batter rankings, with India opener Ishan Kishan (up 10 ranks to 33rd) making an impressive surge.

As a result of their performance against India, New Zealanders Glenn Phillips (up one slot to seventh) and Kane Williamson (up five spots to 35th) both moved up the most recent list of batter rankings.

This week’s T20I bowler rankings saw no changes inside the top 10, but outside the top 10, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, an Indian seamer, moved up two spaces to 11th, and Tim Southee, a veteran from New Zealand, moved up two spots to tie for 14th.

Meanwhile, a host of Australian stars were the big winners on the latest ODI rankings on the back of their dominant series sweep at home over England.

Experienced opener David Warner scored a century and a half-century during that series and that helped the 36-year-old move up one place to fifth overall behind No.1-ranked Babar on the latest list for batters.

Fellow veteran Steve Smith jumps three places to seventh overall, while left-hander Travis Head – who finished as the leading run-scorer for the series with 240 runs – improves 12 spots to 30th.

Two of Australia’s bowlers also make good gains, with left-arm quick Mitchell Starc moving up four spots to fourth overall and spinner Adam Zampa rising to a career-high rating of 655 points and jumping eight spots to equal seventh after picking up more wickets (11) than any other player during the series.
