Bhubaneswar: June 27: The Chief Minister of Orissa, Naveen Patnaik, has praised the Puri Police and District Administration for their efforts to ensure that the elderly and specially-abled devotees can receive darshan during the annual Ratha Yatra in the holy city of Puri.

According to Puri SP Dr. Kanwar Vishal Singh, at least 300 elderly and specially-abled devotees between the ages of 70 and 100 have been facilitated to experience darshan so far.

The ‘Yuva Shakti volunteers’ hired by the Puri Police ensured that the darshan went off without a hitch for the elderly and people with disabilities.

Puri SP Dr. Kanwar Vishal Singh launched the Yuva Shakti program on 4 May, preceding the Rath Yatra. The police team trained and sensitized them on behavioral considerations and crowd control.
