Nuapada: The Junior Engineer (JE) of Khariar R & B under Nuapada R & B Division Susanta Sethy was arrested by Odisha Vigilance on Saturday for possession of disproportionate assets (DA).
He will be forwarded today to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.
In this connection, Vigilance Cell PS case No.05/2025 has been registered against Susanta Kumar Sethy, JE.
Based on searches conducted on properties of Sethy, Junior Engineer, he was found in possession of disproportionate assets including 3 multi storeyed buildings,1 Farmhouse,9 high value plots, 2 costly four wheelers including 1 benami car, deposits Rs.55 lakhs, household articles worth over Rs.14 Lakh etc, which he could not account for satisfactorily.
Further, it is learnt that Sethy had kept huge ill-gotten money of Rs 55 Lakhs and gold weighing 1.4 kg in the house of his tenant to evade detection during Vigilance raids which was usurped by the tenant.
In this connection, the spouse of Sethy had lodged an FIR in Dhauli Police Station vide FIR No. 93 dated 13.4.2024 against the tenant for not returning the same. The case is now under investigation by Dhauli Police Station. This cash and gold ornaments is suspected to have been the ill-gotten money of Sethy which is under verification by the Vigilance Officials.
Investigation of the case is underway.
