At the Adarsh Vidyalaya in Sundarpal, Hatadihi Block, Keonjhar District, Odisha, a Class VI tribal student was allegedly assaulted by the school’s intoxicated principal after the young lad failed to answer one of his questions.
Sources said Barik asked one of his Class VI students to name the six seasons. As the student could not answer, Principal Barik became enraged and beat the tribal student with an iron pipe. Other pupils objected and alerted their parents as the minor wailed in agony.
Further, the school principal has been banned from entering school premises.
The accused person has been named Nityananda Barik, who is the head of Sundarapal Adarsha School in Keonjhar district’s Hatadihi block.
When the parents came about the incident, they went to the sub-collector, Anil Kumar Sethy, and asked him to do something about the drunk Principal.
Listening to all about the incident, Sub-Collector hurried to the school and spoke with the victim student and other classmates about it.
The sub-collector barred the accused Principal from attending the school after he also acknowledged his error.
Because they believe their children are not safe with him, the parent of the pupil has demanded strong action against him.
