Kendrapada, Aug 30: On Monday, a man named Satyanarayan Mishra was pronounced with life imprisonment by the District and Sessions Court of Jajpur, for allegedly killing a 22-year-old girl nine years ago. The court also sentenced an additional imprisonment of five years for destroying evidences in the case and slammed a penalty of Rs 25,000 on the accused.
As per reports, on January 12, 2007, Mishra had allegedly killed Sobhagyalaxmi Biswal, a resident of Achutapur and had disposed off her body into a bush near the village.
The following day, the Police had recovered Biswal’s body, bearing injuries on neck, head and hand, and took Mishra into custody as per the allegation by the victim girl’s parents that he had killed their daughter. Mishra confessed to have committed the crime during interrogation. It was suspected that both the convict and the victim were lovers.
