Bhubaneswar, Nov 5: Even as Onion prices were sliding gradually, another essential kitchen ingredient potato prices have started rising in the past few days.
Prices of tuber, which were at Rs 10 a kilo three days ago, have been maintaining a rising trend touching Rs 13-14 a kilo on Wednesday.
Traders in the city say this could be due to the fact that potato harvest has been delayed.
However, wholesalers assure that the prices are likely to stabilise when the fresh crop arrives in the markets.
The cultivation of potato is already delayed this season and proper assessment of the prices could only be done after looking at the situation after a few days, said the traders.
Meanwhile, the prices of onion, which had brought tears in the eyes of housewives, have begun to fall and by the Diwali festival it is expected to fall considerably.
