Bhubaneswar, Dec 16: Air Odisha Aviation Private Ltd would start its passenger flight service between Sambalpur and Bhubaneswar by the last week of December.
This will be the first inter-State flight affiliated by the Odisha Government.
Once the service started people from Sambalpur can fly to the State capital in an hour’s time. Now, it takes at least six hours by road to reach Bhubaneswar.
According to Air Odisha Aviation Private Ltd Director Trideep Rout, a nine-seater flight would be available between the two cities. Tickets would cost around Rs 2,000 a person. As per plan, one flight daily will be available between the two cities while the State Government would provide logistical support like security, fire service, parking and other requirements at Jamadarpali Airstrip in Sambalpur. The runway of the airstrip measures 1.2 km.
The Jamadarpali Airstrip was commissioned in the late 1950s.
