Cuttack, Apr 4: Demanding changes in the Advocates Act, 1961, advocates across the state have shut down business as clients around face problems.
Notably, the Bar Council of India chairman Manan Kumar Mishra had earlier given a proposal to the Law Commission of suspending licenses and charging fine amount to those lawyers who are engaged in any kind protests or strikes.
Opposing the council’s proposal, the Odisha State Bar Council has demanded for the changes in the law.
Notably, the state bar council, has forwarded their problems to the Union Law Minister, who has guaranteed to discuss the matter with the Prime Minister for an appropriate decision, said sources.
