New Delhi, Dec 14: Governor of Assam, Shri Banwarilal Purohit held a meeting with Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh here yesterday and discussed wide range of issues related to administrative and other matters of the State.
The Governor informed Dr Jitendra Singh that, soon after taking over his new assignment in Raj Bhawan recently, he had embarked on a State-wide tour and out of a total of 35 districts, he had already covered a majority of them by now. Based on his ground observations at different places, he said, he had taken a note of certain observations which he wanted to share with the DoNER Minister.
The Governor had all praise for the remonetization decision taken by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and also gave a feedback based on his observations about how to promote “cashless transactions” in the peripheral region of Northeast.
The Governor also offered his inputs and opinion regarding the current socioeconomic scenario in the State and the reforms which can be contemplated for further betterment.
Dr Jitendra Singh took note of the suggestions given by the Governor. He recalled his meeting with Shri Purohit at Raj Bhawan, Guwahati, soon after the latter had taken over as the Governor and said that he would keep in regular touch with him in future also and provide time to time update on various issues.
