Puri, July 18: An unexpected happening happened yesterday at Puri during Niladri Bije. Police arrested a Servitor on the account of attacking the media persons. Police DG, KB Singh reported that another servitor is supposedly to be arrested because of his connection in the incident. Alongside, the Puri Collector Arvind Agarwal, having being abused by the servitors for refusing them to allow the devotees to climb up the chariot, said that FIR is liable to be filed against those responsible.
The ritual got delayed after some devotees were given the permission to climb up the chariots by the servitors despite of the ban being put upon. Reporters who reached the spot to find out the reason of delay in the rituals were misbehaved by the servitors.
The Pahandi of Sudarsana during the Niladri Bije of the deities from the chariots to the Ratna Sinhasana had to be stopped forcibly after Puri Collector Arvind Agarwal, who was also present at the spot, had a quarrel with some servitors who allowed some of the devotees, said to be relatives of these servitors, to climb the chariots.
Notably, a young girl, on being accompanied by a senior servitor, climbed the Taladhwaja Chariot of Lord Balabhadra, whereas two girls and a woman were also found climbing the Nandighosa and Taladhwaja chariots.
