Bhubaneswar, Apr 11: A warning bell has rung for the Regional Passport officials here when twenty four Bangladeshi Nationals successfully got Indian passports on submission of fake documents. Passports of 24 Bangladeshis have been revoked and five persons have been arrested by the authorities in last one and half years from New Delhi and Mumbai, but 16 others are still unknown. The RPO officials have now brought the matter to the State Intelligence Bureau and has asked for further investigation. Passport Officer Digbijoy Giri informed to media. The matter came to fore after documents submitted by applicants were verified. The Bangladeshi Nationals in connivance with corrupt officials and brokers are able to procure fake voter ID card, birth certificates and residence proofs.
Earlier the Balasore police arrested two Bangladeshi Nationals on Feb 12 who were trying to get passports by furnishing forged certificates at mobile camp. Both the accused had been living in Mumbai and claimed that they were Indians and permanent residents of Basta in Balasore.
