Bhubaneswar, Apr 12: The news is doing the rounds that customers who have opened your bank their bank accounts between Jul 2015 and Aug 2015 do not want their accounts to be blocked by the bank have to rush to the bank to link their account to their Aadhar numbers. This was declared by the IT department on Tuesday. They further said that accounts opened in the said period have to submit their Know Your Customer (KYC) documents and Aadhar number by Apr 30 and if they do not, their accounts will be blocked. Insurance and stock accounts have also been included in the order. This happened after the linkage of Aadhar number with the bank accounts was made mandatory for mobile numbers and tax filings. This would help in tracking tax evaders through the Foreign Tax Compliance Act (FACTA) which is a pact signed between India and the US to trade tax related information. The tax department stated in a statement the account holders need to be informed that if self-certifications are not provided till Apr 30 the accounts would be blocked.
