Guwahati, Mar 9: Telecom tower firm Bharti Infratel has  announced it would join hands with an Assam-based NGO “Shishu Sarothi” to give scholarship to persons with-disabilities from the Northeast for studying professional or technical courses. The primary objective of the ‘Bharti Infratel Scholarship Programme’ is to provide financial support and aid to the differently-abled students for pursuing professional or technical education, which in turn will help them get employment-ready and thus self-reliant, the company said in a statement.

Commenting on the development, Bharti Infratel Managing Director and CEO D S Rawat said: “We are pleased to support this special cause of helping differently abled realise their dreams and aspirations. Today, the cost of accessing higher education often proves to be the primary deterrent among those with disabilities. “Shishu Sarothi will implement and identify deserving students from across all eight states of the Northeast — Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura and Meghalaya.
