On Wednesday, the Biju Janta Dal (BJD) expelled Rajendra Das, a disgruntled BJD leader and former legislator from Dhamnagar, for engaging in antiparty activities in advance of the by-election.
After being turned down for a party ticket, Das filed as an independent candidate, prompting BJD to take this action.
“Sri Rajendra Kumar Das, EX-MLA of Biju Janta Dal, Dhamnagar Assembly Constituency, District- Bhadrak has been expelled from the Party for his antiparty activities by Shri Naveen Patnaik, President, Biju Janata Dal,” an order issued by the BJD read.
