Bird hits in Bhubaneswar Airport has come down.

Bhubaneswar: Jan 21: Meeting of Airport Environment Management Committee was held today at State Secretariat of Odisha. After the meeting, Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi briefed the media persons and said, ‘Due to continuous effort, the number of bird hits has come down in the last few months.’ Padhi also said, it is decided to do some steps like  drainage, tree pruning, disposal of garbage from the slums in airport periphery, regulate open sale of meat, fish and chicken by unauthorised and unregistered shops. He said, this is in fact a continuous effort and we have to keep constant watch to ensure that there will be no incident of bird hits in the airport.

Ramaswami Mahalingam, Director of airport said, ‘Last meeting was held in May last year and improvement has been made in many issues.  Now drainage work is completed and the water is smoothly flowing under it, there is no water stagnation. Water stagnation attracts birds. So, number of incidents of bird hits has come down.’
