Biju Janata Dal leader Amar Patnaik joined the Bharatiya Janata Party today. The former Rajya Sabha MP and BJD spokesperson also chaired the BJD IT Cell. Patnaik formally joined the BJP in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, State BJP President Manmohan Samal, and BJP State in-charge Vijaypal Singh Tomar.
BJP State in-charge Vijaypal Singh Tomar welcomed Amar Patnaik by presenting him with the party cap at the merger ceremony.
Amar Patnaik stated that he joined the BJP, inspired by its organizational style and role in Odisha’s development. He added that he will serve the nation in any role assigned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
Former Accountant General Amar Patnaik joined the BJD on August 29, 2018. The BJD IT Cell was then established to disseminate accurate and timely updates on government policies, messages, and programs. Patnaik was appointed its chairman by BJD President and then Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
In 2019, the Biju Janata Dal nominated Amar Patnaik, then the head of the party’s IT Cell and a former Accountant General, along with spokesperson Sasmit Patra, as candidates for the Rajya Sabha. Subsequently, Patnaik was elected to the Rajya Sabha unopposed.
