Jajpur: October 21: BJP observed 12-hour bandh today in the district of Jajpur demanding  a CBI probe into the death of Haridaspur village level worker Smitarani Biswal.

BJP workers picketed at different places of the district since the morning and blocked the roads.

Shops and business establishments remained mostly closed and also due to road blockade, vehicular movement came to a halt.

Protesters also protested outside Jajpur Collector’s office and other Government offices.

As per the Post-Mortem report, Smitarani died of asphyxia due to hanging.

Prima facie evidences reveal that Smitarani had an external affair with Sarpanch Madhusmita Bhadra’s husband Rupesh Bhadra, informed Jajpur SP Charan Singh Meena.

Also, it is said, she was asking him to leave his wife and stay with her. Both had arguments on the issue earlier and on the fateful day, she again raised the issue. Rupesh straightway said, he can’t leave his wife….and challenged her to take any step possible.

Smitarani went to the restroom and committed suicide.
