Blast Furnace-5 of Rourkela Steel Plant clocks best ever performance

Rourkela, March 2: The new state-of-the-art Blast Furnace-5 of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) set up as part of the Modernisation and Expansion of the Steel Plant has registered its best ever performance in the month of February 2016. In all 207373 tonnes of Hot Metal was produced by the Furnace in the said month thereby utilising more than 90% of its rated capacity.

The productivity of the Furnace was also at the level of 2.1 which is highest ever since inception.

Besides the New Blast Furnace, the New Plate Mill too registered its best monthly production by rolling 29321 tonnes of plates.

The success was reflected in the performance of the New Power Generation units which combindly  produced 28.61 Megawatt of power, which was again the best performance clocked there.

On the techno-economic front, too, the Steel Plant created a new benchmark by registering a Coke rate of 427 kg per Tonne of Hot Metal in the month of February 2016 against the previous best of 441 kg per Tonne of Hot Metal achieved in January 2016.

MKDas, ED Incharge, RSP has congratulated the collective for these achievements and expressed hope that the employees will continue the good work in the days to come.
