Bus torching issue: Bus owner’s association calls of strike

Puri, June 7: After long hours of strike by the Bus Owner’s Association, following to the torching up of 3 buses at Pipili by the locals leading to a road accident, the former after a meeting with the Puri administration has called off the strike.

Early yesterday evening, Puri collector met the bus owners at the circuit house at Puri and requested to resume bus services till Rath Yatra, ensuring that the visitors should not face the trouble while visiting the pilgrim city during the Snana purnima and the Rath Yatra.

After getting assurance from the admin about the safety of the bus and passengers along with the arrest of the culprits who torched the buses, the association has decided to resume services to the pilgrim city.

On the other hand, police has registered a case with the torching incident while 4 persons have been identified and cases against them has also been registered.

Notably, earlier this week a Bhubaneswar-Puri bus on way to Bhubaneswar had hit a couple and crushed them underneath leading to their death near the Hata square at Pipili. Following to this the locals in the area had torched the same bus along with two other buses. Leading to the incident the Odisha Private Bus Owner’s Association had called for a bus strike yesterday.
