Capital city to get 400 city buses soon

Bhubaneswar, Oct 17: Taking steps to ease the boarding and alighting facilities for commuters, around 400 city buses are likely to run in the capital city, informed the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) sources.

As per the information, new bus depots will come up at Patia, Patrapada or Bhagabanpur with bus repair, toilet and canteen facilities which will have the provisions of housing more than 100 buses at each bus depot.

The bus depot at Patia would be built on a five acre plot of land in Patia Mouza on plot no. 545 of khata no. 493.

Likewise, two acre land for both- Patrapada with plot no. 785 of khata no. 778 and Bhangabanpur with plot no. 191 of khata no. 683 have been identified.

The land for this purpose has been handed over to the Housing and Urban Development department by the General Administration department (GA).

As per the GA department order, the construction work would be completed within three years, failing which the land will be taken back by the department.
