Bhubaneswar, 10th August: Today, the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated a Facebook workshop for Mission Shakti Entrepreneurs in the capital city. The workshop aims to empower entrepreneurs and SHGs with digital marketing skills. The Chief Minister congratulated the MSME Department, the Directorate of Mission Shakti, Facebook for this joint initiative.

The Chief Minister earlier stressed on the use of the three Ts-technology, teamwork and transparency to bring about transformation in the lives of our people. This is amply demonstrated   today in the partnership of Government with Facebook – a partnership aimed to reduce the digital divide and empower nearly 25,000 entrepreneurs and SHGs over the next one year.

More than one thousand women today are participating in the “She Means Business” initiative. State Government has always tried to empower women in the State and is one of the top most priorities of the Government.   

In 2001, the Mission Shakti movement had been introduced by the Government and nearly 50 lakh women are a part of this movement across the State. The vision of women’s empowerment is holistic- women are equal partners at homes and in the public sphere.

Today’s workshop will be mutually beneficial to urban women Entrepreneurs and their sisters from rural Odisha.

The focus of the Government is growth which is inclusive and equitable. The MSME sector   plays a major role in bringing about such growth. It has a significant contribution in GDP, exports and employment generation. The Government’s new policies in this sector focus on training and human resource development. The Skill Development Mission aims to make “Skilled in Odisha” a brand across the globe.

The inauguration programme was attended by MSME Minister Shri Prafulla Samal, Odisha Skill Development Authority Chairman Shri Subroto Bagchi, Chief Secretary Shri Aditya Padhi, Development Commissioner Shri R. Balkrishnan, MSME ACS Shri L.N. Gupta and Shri Rajat   Arora of Facebook. Commissioner, Mission Shakti proposed the Vote of Thanks.
