Colloquium at Birla Global University on the Economic Impact of Demonetisation

Bhubaneswar, Jan 28: Birla Global University organized a Colloquium on “Economic Impact of Demonetization: Has bottom of the pyramid emerged or submerged?” which was being inaugurated by the esteemed panelists Shree R.K. Agarwal, Shree Ramesh Chandra Das, Shree Dilip Satapathy, Dr. Sudhakar Panda and Dr. Parameswar Nayak. The theme and introduction on the colloquium delivered by the convener Prof. Swagat Kishore Mishra .The objective was to make the forum aware about the importance, loopholes of the demonetization as well as the effect on the bottom of the pyramid. Dr. B.K. Das had given enormous inputs and mobilized the whole set up to organize the seminar series especially celebrating the fact that now Birla Global University is offering Master of Arts in Economics.

The deliberation by the director BIMTECH Dr. Parameswar Nayak stated some burning issues of demonetization .He also focused on same major issue related to bottom of the pyramid facing in day-to-day life. The forum then witnessed the discussion with the delegates, which got started by Mr.Ramesh Chandra Das (former Chief General Manager, RBI) who emphasized on the issues like decrease in lending rates .short term GDP decrease. THE second speaker Mr.R.K.Agarwal (C.A) gave his valuable comments on restriction on terrorism, main purpose of why demonetization has failed neglectoin towards the rural areas. The third speaker Mr.Dilip Sathpathy (Resident Editor, Business Standard) mentioned the negative impact to the bottom of the pyramid that included black money, no proper networking in the country, and lack of digital security. Last but not the least the fourth speaker Dr. Sudhakar Panda (Retd. Prof.Utkal University) gave his inputs regarding the reduction of poverty alongside the public. He also mentioned that the impact of demonetization was on every sector, be it agriculture of FMCG sector. The program displayed an engaging talk and exchange of facts among students and experts in the panel group.
