Bhubaneswar, February 1: The sense of emptiness that had gripped the television viewers after the hilarious ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil” and drew to an end last Sunday, was reduced today as another actor-comedian Krushna Abhishek launched his Comedy Nights Live (CNL).
Colors channel today telecast CNL with a promise of similar wholesome family entertainment at 10 PM every Sunday at 10 pm.
If grapevine is to be believed, Kapil show might have faced the axed due to Kapil’s insecurity over Krushna Abhishek’s show on the same channel.
Kapil Sharma, who shot to fame with his character Bittu – a witty, flirty and in-the-face owner of a magazine, who invited Bollywood stars to his house (which was full of crazy characters Dadi, Bua, Guthi, Palak and many more), reportedly had a disagreement with the channel over another show with a similar name – Comedy Nights Bachao – with Krushna Abhishek spearheading the show.
Comedy Nights With Kapil also gave Sunil Grover (Guthi), Kiku Sharda (Palak), Ali Asgar (Dadi), Sumona Chakravarti, Upasna Singh, Navjot Singh Sidhu, Paresh Ganatra and Chandan Prabhakar a fresh lease of life and heightened their popularity. Also, who can forget the phrases – “Babaji ka thullu”, “Juice me”, “Kaun hai yeh aadmi?” and “Ittu sa tha”?
Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Ranbir Kapoor to Deepika Padukone, Kajol, Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma and many more — added to the fun, drama and humour to Comedy Nights With Kapil which ran nearly two years on the channel.
Kapil fans are disappointed with the change and have expressed their views strongly on social media.
