Congress Declares Second List Of Candidates For UP Election

Congress on Thursday released the second list of 41 candidates for the Uttar Pradesh Election and out of that, 16 are women. Farmer leader Poonam Pandit and Dr.Yasmeen Rana are in the list of women candidates.

Last Week, Congress has announced the names of 125 candidates and out of that, 50 candidates are women.

So far Congress has declared names of 166 candidates for UP Election and out of that, 66 are women which is higher than 40 percent as promised by Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Party General Secretary and UP In-Charge.

Women candidates declared so far include the mother of Unnao rape survivor; Poonam Pandey an Asha Worker; Nida Ahmed, a journalist; and social activist Sadaf Jafar from Lucknow who was at forefront of anti-CAA protests.

Earlier Priyanka Gandhi announced 40 percent tickets to women candidates. Her slogan is ‘Girls Can Fight’. She has said, political rights need to be given to the women.
