Koraput, Oct 11: As the situation in Malkangiri district has crossed the border line due to the disease Japanese Encephalitis (JE) and has reached Koraput, the death toll of children suffering from the disease in Koraput has risen to three with the death of one more child identified as Sanjana Harijan, a resident of Dabuguda village in the district on Tuesday.
Taking preventive measures, blood samples of pigs who are the carrier of the disease were collected by veterinary officials on Monday in Jeypore for analysis. If the samples are found positive for encephalitis virus, steps will be taken accordingly.
It may be noted that, in Malkangiri the death toll of children due to the disease has gone up to 44 in the last 32 days.
