Death toll rises to 45 in Odisha by Sunday due to Lightning Strike

Dhenkanal, Aug 1: On Sunday, the death toll reached to 45 with the addition of five more lives due to the lightning strike.

Three victims, Abhiram Dehuri (50) of Santhasara village in Gondia Block, Sadananda Dhal (47) of Ganjeidihi Village in Sadar Block and Kesab Nayak (38) of Saruali Village in Kamakhyanagar Block resided in the district of Dhenkanal. Alongside, a 12-year old boy was seriously hurt after being struck by the Lightning when he had gone out to graze goats in the field in the Udaygiri Village in Kamakhyanagar Block. He’s now admitted in the district headquarters hospital. 41 goats also died because of the same in this area. A person died and four others were seriously injured when lightning struck them in Turangi village in the Nabarangpur district yesterday afternoon and another person belonging to the Mangapali village in Raighar Block had to also give on his life.
