Demanding their rights, tribal hit roads in capital city, Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Dec 30: Demanding their right over forest goods, employment in local industries and allocation off land record, tribal from various part of the state yesterday staged a demonstration in capital city. They were seen performing on the road with their traditional instrument.The development in industries only provides profit to the government as the industries pays tax. It is not providing any gain to tribal people. So hundreds of tribal people staged demonstration in Bhubaneswar for their rights as the city consists all the powerful people, agitators said.

The Village boards are yet to be empowered to have any control over the forest, Sudhansu Sekhar Deo, forest right activists informed media. Many tribal people are yet to get their land records as the Forest Act till now has not yet been implemented in Rayagada and Kandhamal districts, he added.
