Dengue Awareness Chariot cruise around Bhubaneswar slums
Bhubaneswar, June 6: A month-long campaign on awareness of ‘Dengue’ has been launched by the Mayor, Bhubaneswar, Shri Ananta Narayana Jena at the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Premises at Kalpana Square here on Tuesday. The campaign is collaborative initiative of Centre for Youth and Social Development (CYSD), PLAN India and BMC.
On the occasion a “Dengue Awareness Chariot” was flagged by the Mayor, which will cater awareness messages, leaflets and visuals to over one lakh Households (HHs) in the urban slum. Nearly 170 volunteers including supervisors will demonstrate various effective methods to prevent Dengue. The ‘Chariot’ will reach 70 habitations in 10 urban slums in Bhubaneswar.
The volunteers will conduct awareness meetings, rallies and sensitise people during the month-long campaign. The first awareness meeting was conducted at Mayfair Nagar, salia sahi on Tuesday.
