Bhubaneswar, Dec 9: From a total of 4,850 existing high schools in Odisha, 1192 are over 50 year old and 41 of them are over 100-year-old. Hence, the 50-year old schools will undergo an infrastructural development and for this the required steps are also been undertaken.

Some fund allocation provisions are being made on behalf of Rural Works and Public Works Department for restoration and development of these schools. This was answered as a reply by the School and Mass Education Minister, Debi Prasad Mishra to the question asked by the BJD member, Amar Prasad Satpathy. On the other hand, Congress chief whip, Taraprasad Bahinipati demanded the construction of boundary walls of all schools in the state. He alleged that the recommendation of the Standing Committee on high school infrastructure development has not been implemented.
