Auckland: In an embarrassing moment for Pakistan and it’s Cricket team, the New Zealand cricket team, which is on a tour of Pakistan, called off their tour and planned to return back, moments before the beginning of the match early today.
According to reports, the New Zealand team came to Pakistan to play three ODIs and five T20s. The first match of the tour was to be played today, September 17. But shortly before the start of the match, the New Zealand cricket team decided to cancel the tour and return. New Zealand said the decision was made for security reasons.
Even Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan after the embarrassing moment-himself spoke on the phone with New Zealand Prime Minister Jasinda Arden to save the visit.
David White, the chief executive of the New Zealand Cricket Board, said there was no other way but to cancel the tour for security reasons. “Pakistan may be a good host, but the safety of the players is paramount,” he said.
