January 22: Puri: As a truck collided head-on with an auto rickshaw on new Jagannath Sadak near Sukala in Puri last night, five persons travelling by Auto Richshaw were killed and three others injured. The deceased and injured persons have been identified as the residents of Andalsingha village under Kanas block of the district. The deceased have been identified as Umakant Baliarsingh, Kumar Biswal, Sunil Samantaray, Bidyadhar Baral and auto-rickshaw driver Geli Nayak.
Sources said, eight persons were coming back from Puri after attending a funeral at Swargadwar, Puri. Four of them died on the spot and one succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at Puri District Headquarters Hospital. Rest three persons are undergoing treatment.
